The Brewery Comes To Life

We’ve had a busy and exciting week here at Riff Raff Brewing Company. On Friday, we officially closed on the building that will house the brewery at 274 Pagosa Street in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. This exciting step allows us to begin renovations in preparation for brewhouse installation when the system arrives in Pagosa in March.

Speaking of the brewhouse, Riff Raff Brewing Company (Jason and Shelly, actually!) is on the road this weekend in the craft brewing mecca of Portland, Oregon. Yesterday we visited the manufacturers of our brewhouse, Portland Kettle Works (PKW). PKW makes high-end brewhouses and tanks for craft brewers around America. All equipment manufacturing and assembly occurs here in the Portland area and we had a great visit with the folks building our system. We really enjoyed seeing the passion and skill these guys exhibit in putting together American-made brewhouses. Check out more information about PKW at http://www.portlandkettleworks.com/ and see some photos we took at the shop during our visit.

As if closing on the building and travelling to Portland to visit our brewhouse manufacturers weren’t enough, we also submitted our liquor license manufacturing application to the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) on Wednesday. This important step begins a process where we will gain legal authority to make yummy beer. The tedious application process put us through the ringer but we made it through the first step and we’ll continue to take steps to get the brewery ready for this summer.
